  1. macerator question

Fairly soon, we are about to embark on an installation for my two new atlantes heads. I will be using the 160 gallon aux fuel tank as a holding tank since its very conveniently located adjacent to the forward head. So far everything is new, and since I do plan some offshore cruising when the...

  3. quality time...

In between doing root canals and wrestling the Anaconda this week, I sat down for a sparky, a coke, and my Naiad manual ( thanks Sky! ). Inside the "oil conditioner" is a coil for an oil cooler, and the book doesent give a clue as far as winterizing/draining it is concerned. It is supplied from...

  4. oil change gear pump update

Just spoke with tech support at TCM-- their gear pump HEADS cannot be retrofitted to the reversos with the jabsco type. It seems that their unit uses the gear head as the motor end cover. As of today they do not build a 32VDC unit. I think I will still buy the 12VDC unit and deal with portability...

  6. opinions wanted...

I am trying to figure out who built the cockpit extension on HATT TRICK. The best that I got out of the DPO was some guy in Florida. He did refer to them as Hatteras South. I cant find such a company. I do have a letter from Hargrave N.A.s That gave some ideas on how to install the job. Does anyone...

  7. Where seldom is heard

...A discouraging word. Just spoke with the prop shop guy. On the star prop the trailing edge has 2 blades out 1/4 and 2 out 1/8 $900 ! The SPO had to back into something as the leading edge is good. The port has a chip in one blade that needs repair, $660 !! New equi-quads 28X32s are 2500 ea. ...

  8. 'splain it to me -

Since there is a lull in the action, I need a little discumbobulatin  I am in the middle of converting the secondary filters to spin ons. It is my understanding that the fuel is drawn through the racors (30 mic) up to the fuel pump, pushed through the secondary (10 mic) to the fuel rail...

  11. heres a funny one- NOT!!

This is the result of a 60mph breeze-- it found us turned 180 in a 75 foot wide channel in the a.m. Thankfully, I had a stern anchor out or we wouldve ended up in the main channel at 3 in the morning. THAT would be a rude awakening! ws

  12. Charge it !!

Does anyone run an aux. 12 volt alternator on a V series DD? The 32s are mounted low and I'd like to put a 12V unit on one engine to charge the 12 volt bank for electronics etc. (radios, hailers, head, macerator etc). At this point, I see no alternative other than running a dual voltage system...

  13. A trivia question

Some where in my jaded past, I seem to remember seeing a HATTERAS emblem that reminded me of the old big block chevy '65-'67 crossed flags (kinda). Since some no good rotten son of a pistol swiped the two brand new ones (in NOLA lower 9th ward of course!) that I bought from SAMS that were the white...

  15. Dont this beat the band !! YIPPEE !!

I finally succeeded, but cant take all the credit... We now have a supplier for 32 volt voltmeters!! A fellow HOF member nonchalantly piped me a website for probably the last people on earth that make these meters. This is the best thing since they put Coke in bottles... I just ordered two and...

  16. Keep your G.M. boat all G.M.

I had a rather pleasant surprise this morning. In the midst of finding spin on filter heads to convert from cannister units on my 12-71s secondary units, and having bought an incorrect one on U-BUY, I was about to give up. I called Jimmy Diesel in LaGrange,Il. and the parts guy informed me that...

Heres the post: I have an electric lift pump for fuel on my 20kw WB that I think is a dud. I can pick one...

  18. anchors

As previously posted, on the sub trip north on the TennTom we anchored out overnite and arose turned 180 on the stern anchor. The bow anchor parted due to a rusted through stock pin! The unit was frozen when I got the boat and I freed it up, never thinking it would fail. I have spent the better...

  20. Blaze Starr

Did a little stripping while I was waiting for oil to pump out. The wood is now bare and I need to know what Hatteras used for stain. I found a gallon of DuPont 506 S (?) Is this the stuff to get that nice golden color back?? Note before, during, and after. Two real wet coats of easy off,...
