  1. Moving the flybridge forward 4'

Has anyone ever heard of moving the helm of the flybridge on a 50' M/Y forward by 4' or so? Seems on all the newer vessels the helm is much more forward than my 1966 has it. Plus I could really use the room aft of the helm.

  2. Ok, I'm getting lonely already....

This is a whine... you're warned in advance :D We did the sea trial for Gigabite today. Survey was completed Tuesday. It is now up to the buyer, of course, as to what he wishes to do. It was kinda lonely running her up on the bridge while the guys alternated between up there and down in...

  3. old girl rot

Today was the start of a kinda big project. Rot under the generator. We lifted the generator and removed the batteries both big boys and the 12 volt for the gen starting. Just as we thought the battery had steamed or spit acid during charging for a long time. Both boxes are out and in the shop all...

  4. Radar/plotter

My Raytheon 20XX radar (4KW open array) is out of order and I am thinking about upgrading to the new color LCD combination units instead of repairing the 13 year old unit. I reviewed the thread back in July and was wondering if anyone has feedback on the new Raymarine C or E series 80, 120 or...

  6. Kidde CO2 Tank removal

I found this excellent guidance from Nonchalant and MikeP back in 2007 on testing the HAD actuation. I have a question about removing the hardware from the bottle. According to my Kidde manual, it says to remove the discharge head first. That is the head with the discharge hose coming off of it...

  8. 6v92 injector question

I need to replace injectors in my 6v92 (435hp Covington, 1979). I have 9215 injectors in the engine now, but Atlantic DD doesn't have any in stock. They do have 9215P injectors, which aren't even listed in the manual. So, does anyone here have info on the "P" injectors, and does anyone here...

The exhaust elbow and connecting nipple on my 1981 Onan 7.5kw generator cracked allowing exhaust gas and cooling sea water to be pumped into the engine room. 10. Stantion removal

I wanted to switch out the screws that hold the stantions to the toe rail on my 1979 53' When I removed one for size verification I found them to be machine screws. My question is, is there a plate under the toe rail that the screws bolt into or is the fiberglass threaded? Your help is greatly...

  12. Carolina Classic "Built by Hatteras"

Does anyone know what boat this actually is or have any other information about it? The broker did't give much detail about it other than "it is what it is." I looked at the model brochures link and did't see anything that looked like this boat. Was it a custom build? I don't believe ...

  13. Digital Gauges

I finally got around to installing an analog-to-digital solution for my engine gauges. I am not doing away with the analog versions, and I have been replacing the broken ones with Stewart Warner but it is a pain because you have to make sure you get dual station senders, etc. Anyways, the digital...

  15. Brighten up the salon

Recently while carusing YachtWorld I noticed a 40 DCMY same as mine but with a much brighter interior (browsing YachtWorld can get you in trouble). Having been an avid reader of this forum for a while and still Hatterasless, I realize that boats, especially in the 38'+ class, require continued maintenance if you want them to operate properly and look good. Good evening to all. I am new to this site, so please bare with me. I have been looking at vintage 43' Double Cabins (38'-43'). 20. Bleed Hynautic Clutch

Ok, so you guys will laugh at me but here goes. Several years ago, like in 2001, I had to have my Hynautic lower starboard clutch handle/head replaced in the pilothouse of my 56 MY. Since then (i.e. for the past 7 years or so), I have been unsuccessful in bleeding all of the air out of that side of...
