  1. Turbo blanket care

When is it necessary to have turbo blankets changed for new ones? My current understanding is that they are OK unless contaminated with oil or fuel or both in which case they are a potential fire hazard. When the snap buttons fail, the blankets can be fastened with loops of external bare...

  2. Homemade Oil Change Pump

Seems like a premade (completely assembled) oil change pump and manifold cost about $400 from the few I have seen. Maybe more now. Any recommendations for low cost products?? For do it yourselfers, you can buy a $100 reversible vane pump and make your own manifold for an oil change system. I used...

  3. Oil Change Pumps

I have a question on the oil change system on my 53C with 12-71's. The systems appear to have two flows- pumping oil out of the pans, and reverse flow to pump fresh oil back in. Is it advisable to pump fresh oil into the pans in a system that probably has dirty/contamination from the drain cycle?

  5. Loran value - any?

I've finally decided after 3 seasons that I'm just not going to learn and use the two loran systems on my boat. I have never had anything but radar and lat/lon based gps, and I just don't use the Northstar 7000 and 8000 systems that I have. I even removed the antennae as I got tired of raising...

  6. Cetrex auto pilot 701?

We have a non-functioning Cetrex 701 on our 37C. I can not find any info on the web. Is it a throwaway? Company out of business ect? I note that some older boats like ours list them as equipment. Who repairs the head units? What does the paperclip mean on a thread? How do you plug in a web...

  12. VHF Antenna questions

I need to replace one of my antennae, as the cable inside the upper portion of the whip corroded and parted. I have a 13.5' base, with a 5' whip that screws to the top of that via a ferrule of sorts. Is it correct that I can simply relace the upper portion and thread the cable of the new antenna...

Now when I try to engage the...

  16. Trim Tabs

I am having a problem with my trim tab switch. I have the boat levelers, which I am assuming everyone has. The switch on the starboard side opens the valve, but does not turn on the motor in the bow down position. So it only puts the bow donw if I depress both switches. Have anyof you ever...
