  2. Battery chArger size

My charles industries 40amp charger is starting to act up. I may need to change it, but they apparently no longer manufacture marine chargers. Would you think a 30 amp charger or even a 20 Amp would be sufficient? We run generators 100% of the time aboard and only use my 24v bank ( that supply...

  5. Boy are these things built

Enclosed is a picture of the shower pan from our forward head that I just fought to remove. That is solid fiberglass, not filler and is about 1 inch thick. The entire pan had to weigh about 100 pounds. Total overkill, but incredible quality also. John

  7. Interesting way to locate holes

I put a new diesel forced air heater in the port engine room and was working on getting the duct through to the master. I had to locate a hole from the guest stateroom into the air handler section outboard of the closet in the master. My electrician showed me a neat trick to locate holes on...

My 52 hatt sf has 34x33 3 blades on it. I can pick up a spare used set of 32x33 3 blades in nice shape dirt cheap. Would they be close enough to use if I damage mine and need an emergency back up? Both for 2 1/2 shafts

  11. ONAN 20 kw Over rev shutdown

Oh no, it's an ONAN. During last weekends trip, I gave the generator a good workout. Ovens, AC, hot water heater, chargers, all the usual stuff. After about 8 running hours funny things began to occur. First, the forward AC began making a clicking sound like a auto turn signal. Then the...

  14. 52 c floor is mysteriously wet

I recently purchased a 1985 Hatt 52c 2 stateroom model So far it's been a pretty common adjustment period; finding and fixing little items. However, now i'm stumped. The carpet in the hallway between the bedrooms has been found soaked in a few spots on several occasions. The main spot is in front...

  15. freshwater plumbing

I had several qest fittings that were leaking so I chose to remove what was accessible and replace with schedule 40. It was an undertaking to say the least but 90% is complete. One thing that was inoperable when we purchased BEATs Therapy was the onboard freshwater system, there wasn't even hoses...

  16. Boat level when polishing fuel

Last year before launching after the repower in the yard I had the old fuel pumped out and the tanks cleaned. 17. Hynautic steering losing pressure

The air pressure in my steering reservoir is normally set to 30psi, a few days ago I noticed that it was down to 20psi. I pumped it back up to 30psi, but after 48 hours days it was back down to 20psi again. At that point, I checked the steering cylinder for a fluid leak, but it was bone dry. I also...

  18. Digital Gauges

I finally got around to installing an analog-to-digital solution for my engine gauges. I am not doing away with the analog versions, and I have been replacing the broken ones with Stewart Warner but it is a pain because you have to make sure you get dual station senders, etc. Anyways, the digital...

  19. Trend Marine Products Pilothouse Door

I’m in the process of “attempting” to change the rollers on above referenced aluminum doors (2003 75 CPMY). Does came off easily enough, but now I’m stuck... Has anyone been through this exercise? It “appears” that the bottom rail of door will need to be removed; seems excessive for routine...

  20. wiinterizing fresh water system

I have been through several changes of method with which to winterize my FW system (1971 36C Hatteras) The main purpose of this thread is to demonstrate 1) a good way to do it 2) how slow a learner I am, which will not come as news to many of you. I began by just running all the water out of...
