Anyone have any idea what size screws are used to hold the stainless rub rail in place? I need to replace a bunch of them. Not near the boat to figure it out myself

  3. Leaking Fuel Cap Fittings

Following on from last weeks post about the TMC toilet hose splitting and filling up the starboard central bilge with salt water, we have now had several days of rain. The port bilge has started filling up with fresh water. Starting my search for the cause in the twin cabin I pulled up the...

  4. draining heat exchangers

This would be easy if you didn't mind making a mess. However, everyone on this forum DOES mind making a mess, especially in their engine room, so here's a short account of what we did today: (we being me and a tech from T&S Marine, the Cat/Cumminds dealer in Crisfield, MD) Although my HEs have...

  5. Name Board

What is the best finish to prep the boards for vinyl lettering. If I lose the base coat, I'll have to redo the letters as well so I'm thinking traditional varnishes are out.Opinions?

  6. Wallpaper removal and Aformosia repair/replace

All,I purchased a 1989 model Hatteras 67 cockpit MY last June and knew at the time it would be a project which has turned out to be more than true. It came from the factory I believe with white vinyl wallpaper in the salon. I know, yuck. But we knew it would be a project when we bought it and were...

  7. Thruster questions

Recently replaced our Grandbanks 50 woody with a 58' Yachtfish. I am wanting to add a bow thruster and perhaps a stern thruster. I know, with twins what do you need a thruster for? Well, fifteen years ago when we purchased the Grandbanks, we were younger and more agile. Not so much now. So the...

  8. ESOIP--Starboard Aft Bilge

Aslan's Engineering Spaces Ongoing Improvement Program (Phase 746) continues with completion of stbd. aft bilge. Port aft bilge to follow. Access is much more restrictive; i.e., blood loss countermeasures and infection control procedures will be in effect.

  9. Light switch for bifold closet doors

Does anyone have a source for the switch that turns on the light when you open the closets? It is a single pole single throw normally open button switch. Its nominally 32v, but really 115v would be ok too. Or should I not bother going to Home Depot to search and just call Sams?

  10. One more try at 41c cockpit shift levers

Does anyone have or have added cockpit controls in a 41c ? I'm not looking for a debate on whether to add or not just advice on how and where they are positioned and connected to the gear. The use will primarily short handed fishing.

  11. Engine Room: Sound Insulation Material and Paneling

Hi folks - hope you don't mind a Hatt admirer asking a question - this forum seems extraordinarily knowledgeable on 1970's vintage fiberglass boats. I am restoring a 1970 Willard 36-foot Trawler and am looking for recommendations and sources for two items: First, sound-deadening insulation for an...

  13. Allison M15 oil leak

I have my exhaust blankets off my port engine so I can replace a leaking turbo gasket, and noticed that fresh clean oil is dripping onto the left rear motor mount. I'm not very familiar with the gears, as fortunately, they have never given me any problem. It seems to be coming from the device...

  14. Quick Connect Shore Water

Has anyone converted the standard screw on hose connectors on a 53 to quick connect? I searched the archives but the comments seem to be about boats that came with quick connects. Also, where is a good spot to plumb a wash down pump, and which should I go with, fresh or sea water?

  15. Alexseal Paint Color

Is Alexseal Oyster White T9128 the same color as Awlgrip Oyster White? Is that the correct color for my 1973 43DC? The whole top side of my boat has been hand painted poorly by the previous owner with bright white Interlux paint. At least those are the partial cans I found on the boat. I would...

  17. Port Canaveral to St Augustine

We are taking a trip up to St Augustine from the inlet at Port Canaveral this weekend. We will be going overnight in the ocean. From what I have read, there are no space center restrictions unless there is a launch. Is this correct? Also, what is a good distance from shore while cruising the east...

  18. Cockpit Mezzanine & Tuna Tube Winter Project

Ok, so trying to get my final plans together for two pretty major wintertime projects on SOUTHPAWS. I'll be doing both these projects in tandem so only one single huge mess will be made on the boat. Hope to finish both projects off before april-ish. Be forewarned, these projects may upset the...

  19. Helm Seat Recommendations

I need to replace the two helm chairs on the bridge. After 30 years the old ones have had it. I was going to rebuild them but sometimes its time to bite the bullet and replace. The cores are gone, the plastic/fiberglass is cracked, aluminum post and slides are shot. What do yall recommend? I...

I finally got around to replacing the salon furniture and drapes, which was all original when the PO bought the yacht new in 1978. This was how it looked when I bought it.
