  1. Loss of AC Pump Prime

Since we have been running the 58 LRC up the ICW since 6/2/19... we have lost the prime on the air conditioning pump about a dozen times. Only happens while underway. Checked and cleaned the strainer... strainer was "mudded up" a little..... tightened all hose clamps... none were really "loose".......

  2. 1983 32 Express

Hello Im looking a 1983 32 express. Ive read some archives about some things to look for, like soft spots on the deck and hull sides possibly. Bottom is not cored from what Ive found. Engines are the 454 with high hours. The hours are weird, one has 2500 and other shows 1800. I believe the boat...

  4. Anyone Using AGM Batteries In Their 32 Volt System?

Just curious. Anyone using AGM batteries in their 32 volt system? At the start of this season we wound up with three bad 8 volt batteries (Deka 819), mostly due to the LaMarche "battery cooker" and decided to replace both the charger which was original to the boat and and all the batteries since...

  7. What’s the rush

Ok I decided to just start a project thread. Over the next few years I have a bunch of things I will be doing and as I move along any advice you all have would be greatly appreciated. Sometimes I make mistakes (more on that in a minute) and as I progress through a project if someone knows I am...

  8. Adding bow & stern thrusters to 48’ 1982 Hatteras motoryacht

We purchased this yacht, last year formerly known as The Guppy. We were lucky to purchase it from Walter who took great care of it. We are challenged with seeing the stern while docking and are interested in modernizing it and purchasing a yacht controller and installing bow and stern thrusters....

  9. “How to” Exhaust Hose R & R. Does anyone know how to?

1975 Hatt 58 ft YFI have to change this hose on the exhaust located in the master bedroom closet, port side. I cut it off and found the two fiberglass pipes are butt up to each other, obviously one needs to be moved so I can install a new hose. Can anyone tell me if I should be looking in the...

  10. Help ID my oil change pump

My oil change pump bound up over the weekend. Took it apart and found a piece of an injector spring that somehow found its way into the crankcase and through the drain line all the way to the pump. Messed up one of the gears quite thoroughly. I believe that the pump is a Teel pump, but the tag...

  11. Rudder post too pitted to re-use

Hauled out on Monday for bottom job, exhaust hammer collector replacement (with fiberglass) on 8V71TI’s, Stbd side rudder table repair (water intrusion around the post rotted the wood), oh, and hopefully waste treatment upgrade among many other smaller to-dos. We dropped the stbd side rudder...

  12. Should I get scared?

I was watching some fun boat videos online about grounds and ground leak and I ended up in the boat using a clamp AMP meter reading 0.5 AMP (thats the 4 wires 2 hot, one neutral and one ground together) when all AC breakers are on running mainly the battery charger/inverter. I went to investigate...

  13. Galleymaid Fresh water system

FYI. I have been having pressure problems. Changed breaker still would trip. My boat is an 1987 58MY. Bought a new pressure tank and installed. The old one I think was 32 years old. It is a 7 gal tank when removed after draining thank it still had 4-5 gals of water. Point being it was old and...

  14. New Generator (s)

After much deliberation, I've decided to retire my 20kw Onan MDL4. This is a forced retirement as the unit still works just fine. It has had a small oil leak since I bought the boat. Not much, just a few drops a day, maybe a cup a month. I decided to finally figure out where it was coming from and...

  15. How much fuel in my lazarrete tank?

Greetings, all. I have a 1975 58 LRC with old (inop) fuel qty gauges. I use a tape measure to dip each tank, then then compare the inches of fuel depth with a chart that equates inches to gallons. My problem is that the chart doesn't show the lazarette tank on it. Does anyone have a...

  16. Replacing Aircon Water Hoses

Recently I cleaned all the aircon coils and noticed the water hoses were very tired after 35 years and needed replacing. 35' of reinforced Vetus 1" water hose arrived and a few days ago I started looking at how to replace the hoses between the aircons in the genset room and the pumps in the port...

  19. My Use of Awlwood MA to Restore Rails

I have spent the past 2+ months refinishing some truly wrecked rails on my 1975 Hatteras. My kids talked me into making a how to video for you tube, so I thought some might like to see it. Videoing, editing, and acting are not my forte' but I believe you will get the gist of it. Also this is...
