I plan to change my engine bilges pumps and switches very soon I have several best practices questions? I will pull everything out and do a good cleaning and then put all new equipment in. 2. Best type carpeting?

Any suggestions for the best type of carpet for my 1974 double cabin thirty eight footer? I get a lot of foot traffic from family and fiends. The carpet on it now is a flat weave with felt under it. It has worn extremely well but itís time for new carpeting.

  4. Props? Fresh vs. Salt : Performance Difference

When I got my boat it had the factory 28x31 props on it and would do 16.5 knots at +-/ 2000 in salt water. I had the engines gone through and the air side of the intercoolers from the looks of it had never been cleaned. Secondary fuel filters were ancient. The timing got adjusted as well as the...

  8. cracked heads on a 426

Machine shop called. I have cracked head on my 426 Chrysler. Current heads are cast iron, but most new replacements are aluminum. I am assuming I should stay with aluminum, but is there a strong case for not using aluminum? It looks like the wedge blocks come in 2 different combustion chamber...

I have a 1989 41' sport fish with 692s. love the boat. Have been researching lifting strakes. 12. Angry 58 LRC Washer/Dryer Mystery

I went to pull my W/D out to install an LG100 (I love these!) in the main tank fuel line. I removed the front paneling, and got the unit 98% of the way out but couldn't get it all the way out. The hoses were holding it in. I can't squeeze past it. I can't reach the connection to the unit. I cannot...

  15. Twin Disc trans stuck in gear!!

In forty years of boating I donít think Iíve put as much as a scratch on a boat. As of this past Monday I can no longer say that. The starboard twin disc transmission stuck in forward during a fuel stop. The result in close quarters was 93,000 pounds landing on an older fiberglass Chris-Craft....

  16. Paragon Transmission Locked in Forward

Have a 1973 38' Hatteras FBDC with starboard transmission locked in forward. When shifted to reverse, it kills the engine. Suppose it must be removed and rebuilt or replaced. Any suggestions would be appreciated. The troubleshooting guide gives three possible problems ... all sound quite serious.

Have a 1979 53 Motor Yacht, Deck boxes are not in great shape. They could be rebuilt, but would like bigger. Does any one know or recommend a replacement company? 20. water in cylinder

Update on my project; I received and replaced the exhaust manifold. Utilizing the test of plugging the lower water connection and adding water from the top (and blowing it with shop vac), I can see that the water level stayed the same. I started the engine, and it started up great, and about 3...
