  2. The Big Chill !

So in order to start a new thred that will garner 100,000 views, I figgered that this ought to get the ball rolling. Not to jump the gun, but I am thinking of hauling the first or second week of October. I can do a nice liesurely winterizing and not have to crowd the yard guys either. It kinda...

  3. I Cant Take The Strain

Old black beauty, my 2000 silverado, let me down. She ate fuel pump #5; so my bride drove me down to the boat and she went shopping. Since I only had about 5 hours to work, I only tackled some measurements and some odds and ends. The packing gland hose size is suppose to be 3-1/2". I used my...

  4. Winding up for THE BIG FREEZE

No rest for the weary... is there! With about a month left in the season up here, we are getting ready for the upcoming "other" season... Sooo... this weekend we finished getting the barely used washer/dryer combo and another dryer down through the forward hatch (thanks ANGE!!). Both units came...

  5. Cockpit Mezzanine & Tuna Tube Winter Project

Ok, so trying to get my final plans together for two pretty major wintertime projects on SOUTHPAWS. I'll be doing both these projects in tandem so only one single huge mess will be made on the boat. Hope to finish both projects off before april-ish. Be forewarned, these projects may upset the...

  6. 1965 41 DCMY Refit

Loose Change is getting a major refit at the Rivolta Yacht factory in Sarasota FL. For those interested in following the action I have attached a few photos. I will attempt to post others as the project progresses. We have owned Loose Change for 26 years. This is her third refit since we bought...

  7. Repowering A 58TC

First, I realize I've been crying wolf on this rebuild deal for quite some time now, but I simply have to do something with my 58. I still don't know exactly what it's going to take to rebuild the starboard that has a burned piston, but given today's climate, I'm thinking of other options...

  8. Hull numbers wanted

Just a suggestion to all members, thought it would be a great idea that you post your hull number after your signature. This way if you see a current boat with close hull numbers you can reach out to those members. I think it could bring the forum even closer together. This is what mine looks like.

  10. The Trilogy Begins

I have been diligently reading the threads on here to learn about my new endeavors. I'm starting out smaller than some of you guys, but that is part of the plan. When I finish my 34ft twin cabin cruiser I want to sell and move up. One step at at a time if necessary. LOL. A little about my...

  11. Effects of Running Diesel at Low RPM

With all the talk of running your boat at hull speed to save gas I thought I would post a question to see what specific engine problems one potentially faces by not running at ‘cruising rpm’ for extended periods. I have a 43 DC with Cummins VT 903s (turbos).

  12. Freeing a Stuck Reversing Valve on AC

On my newer CrapAir unit, it appears the reversing valve is stuck. It will operate and blow heat like I've died and gone to hell, but it won't go the other direction and cool. Condensing unit runs, but just won't push the gas back the other way. Unit was new in December 2007, so I think it might...

  13. Fuller Brush Portholes Replacement

The PO used to dock on his own, i.e. single-handle, and right over some pilings. Therefore the bottom half of many stbd side portholes are broken out or chipped away. Not a hazard to water ingress, but uglyanyway, plus the surveyors ding them/me At any rate, since Fuller Brush is now willing...

  15. 1987 45 Convertible - Anyone know her?

Going to take a look at her tomorrow. Made a (well at least what I consider) low offer on it and the broker told me that he didn't think it was going to fly. Called me back after talking with the owner and gave me a line blah blah blah... Told him I appreciate it and best of luck selling. Called...

  16. 55 Convertible Repower underway

Threw a rod in July in the Starboard 12V71. Loved the engines, but this will be her third rebuild so decided to repower. Engines came out last Wednesday (pictures attached). Planning to change DC system from 32V to 24V (assume will have to replace heads, bilge pumps, windlass, autopilot - hate to...

  17. Watertank baffle repair

Went to install Maretron focus tube for NMEA2k tank sensor and found all 3 water tank baffles laying on the bottom of the tank. my guess is they've been there for a long time, fortunately no leaks. So we cut the floor out in the V berth, cut the top of the tank off, and into a unexpected project....

  18. Reengineering an air conditioning unit to “marine” use. Purists should cover their e

Finally, after taking a hammer to the P.I.T.A. aft salon air conditioner for the last time, I sat down and cooled off with a beer. I started to rethink this whole “marine” a/c theory and the way it is used in our application. Truth be told, this idea was thrown around last year with my good friend...

Just like the title says, I've got to run the rack this fall on our 8v92's and am looking for a snapon m3558 injector timing/height tool. It's a snap-on tool and is discontinued. I have searched ebay and the web and have been unable to find one. Would love to find somebody with one sitting...
