My tractor, M4900 ran great. Then while running, started to put out white smoke and stopped. Restart a no go and white smoke smells like diesel. Coolant is green with no contaminants. Oil is good color and no water. Had fluids and filters changed about 10 hrs ago. What could cause? Water, injector, injector pump?

I know this is a crazy question but have you checked to see if you’re getting fuel.

There is fuel in the tank and when I crank it, it turns over, white puffs come out of the exhaust that smell like diesel.

My first suspicion if it's running fine and then the exhaust changes color and it dies would be fuel contamination. Pull the filter off and dump the contents in a clear container and see what it looks like.

If you're getting smoke out of the exhaust when cranking it's pumping fuel, just not burning it.

White smoke is in-complete fuel combustion.
Bad fuel is the easiest thought, stuck valve or blown head gasket easily comes to my mind.

Okay, I'll pull the filters and drain the fuel tank to see if its contaminated.
