Can anyone give me an idea of the average fuel burn per hour on a 7.5 Onan diesel genset? It's a 1981 model, if that makes any difference. I've been told it depends on the load you are pulling. Thanks in advance.

SPECS CAN BE FOUND IN THE OWNERS MANUELS. THESE ARE AVAILABLE THROUGH ONAN DEALERS. RECOMMEND YOU CALL A FEW, TALK TO THE OLD TIMERS WHO USED TO WORK ON THESE. THEY ARE A GREAT HELP. IF YOU CANT FIND THE BOOKS, TRY E BAY, THERE ARE ALWAYS MANUELS FOR SALE.

I HAVE A 1985 4.0 MCCK, GAS. FACTORY SPEC FUEL BURN IS .7 GPH AT FULL LOAD. WOULD SUSPECT YOURS WILL BE LESS THAN .5 GPH.

GOOD LUCK

The manual for my 7.5kw MDJE says .5 gallons per hour under load.

I tried to calculate it after a four day run and think that .5 sounds about right. The engine that the generator shares a tank with is more efficient than its friend on the other side of the boat. So its hard to tell.
