I'm debating whether to overhaul my 1271's (naturals) in my 53' convt. or invest in a set of rebuilt 1292n's. The horsepower would increase from 500 now, to 700 after. My mechanic tells me these naturals are as reliable as the 1271's and maintenance only slightly more.Engine Life is about same. I'm told the swap is simple since the 1292's supposedly fit the same space with no modification,same gears,shafts,etc. Anyone with any advice? I'm guessing my cruise should go from 17kts.now to around 23kts or so?Thanks for any help you can give me.
