View Full Version : Air con efficiency...

I just had to have one of the air handler replaced (the one in the rear of the salon) since the fan motor was on the way out. would start on its own without a push... meaning that if I wasn't on board and there would be a power outage... the motor woudl burn up... smelled real nasty...

it was the original unit so I can't complain about the reliability of the cruisair equiptment...33 years is pretty good.

anyway... while the as/c guy was installing the new air handler, I asked him how much efficiency is lost by having the air pushed out that low. he said about 25% so I quickly figured that we could install it with the outlet in the corner so that air could be ducted up in the rear port corner and above the port windows behind the piece of trim.

the air will be ducted behind 6"x6" teak square duct, it shoudln't look too bad in the corner and will improve cooling. I shoudl have the teak pieces late next week and will post pictures when done...

has anyone tried that?
