i want to repower my 1966 41 TCMY. current original 653's are running hot, dirty, and very loud. i want more speed, better fuel economy, much less noise, and clean engine room. does anyone have suggestions about power and best way to remove engines from boat.

The best way to take them out is stripping them.
What's your cruising apeed and top speed with those engines?
I'm thinking about buying a 1968 41 double cabin with those engines.
The owner took the engines out throgh the roof.

normal cruise is 8-10 knots depending on wind and current at 1800 rpm. fast cruise is 14.5 knots and top speed 17 knots at 2900 rpm. engines want to run hot at faster speeds and i limit time at faster speeds. sensitive to external water temperatures ie hot water, hotter engines. they were abused due to lack of use and i have not overhauled but strong maint. program. i ran 2200 nautical miles in past 2 years and would go anywhere at 1600- 2000 rpms with temps running 175-185 = 8-12 knots depending upon wind and current.

my mechanic suggests easiest way to remove engines is cut out the headliner and the roof. i want to repower but dont know what is best for this boat. just starting research.

i sent you pictures of Sweet Sue. hope you received. i am going to either sell the boat or repower. thinking of long trip - maybe 4-5000 nm and think need to repower to run at fast cruise longer.

Are the walls painted in white or laminated?
