There is no HIN number on the transom. There are numbers on the stringer in the engine room. They are about 4" tall and have a filter bracket over them. There are 2 numbers. I think that one is the hull number, 5201. Ther other number looks like NET 18... (the rest of the number is covered).

Is 5201 the hull number?

Check the port engine room for a metal plaque.

The boat is a 38' DCMY so there is only one engine room. Where would the plague be mounted? Next time I'm at the boat I'll look at the manual.

Mark,

Not sure about your 68' but on my 69' 45C the HIN is on my transom. My HIN is 45C321, consisting of the model, and hull number. Goive Hatteras Customer Service a call, the lady with whom I spoke was great. Their number is 252-633-3101. They can most likely tell you were it is right away.

there is no hull number on a 1967. the number in your bildge is most likely the doccumentation number. your boat is or was doccumented.

i have a 67 34c. found several different hull numbers on the undersides of drawers etc. only way i found real number was we have the original owners manuel and the page that lists the paint codes had the hull number. mine is 34c322. you may want to contact some owners on the classic hatteras page, there is a club link on sams main page

Let me tell you at this point after so many years you most likely won't find a plaque. This is from experience but you can call Hatteras and talk to Jennifer and tell her the #s on the draws and she will cross reference them to the # good luck and send the # to www.vintagehatteras.com and
Mark will post it.
