I have two delco 50mt starters which I want to overhaul. I found a few kits on eBay for this. Are they any good? Am I better off buying a rebuild starters?

If they're not rusty inside I would rebuild what you have. I don't remember if that model has a rebuild able solenoid, but most of the other parts are replaceable. There is a big difference in parts quality of the bendix and solenoids so ebay may not be the best parts source unless you're familiar with the seller. I promise you will do a better rebuild job than an employee at a large rebuilder.

A good shop that specializes in marine starters is your best bet. Bearings and surfaces may be worn and need machining. Other parts may need to be replaced or cleaned up baying what most people can do at home.

Can anyone recommend a reputable re-builder that I can send my start to?

Thanks
