On my 53 1985 with Allison transmissions the shaft will turn slightly when in neutral. I can hold my hand on it with a rag and it will stop let go and it will turn again. I just had them serviced and this started, it looks as though it is way overfilled with oil would this cause the problem?
Thanks Orion

I had Allison M20's behind Detroit 8V71's and they both turned slightly when in neutral. I was told this is normal as long as you can stop it with minimal effort. As far as the oil level, it will read VERY HIGH when the engine is off. You have to check the level with the engine running. Best to check it once the oil is hot, after a run ( the oil will never get up to temp in neutral). If you are overfilled, or very under filled, the oil will look milky. This is not water but air in the oil and should be corrected immediately as aerated oil doesn't lube well.

My 53MY with Allison M20's does that too sometimes. A guy from DD told me it was OK if it was mild.
