Does anyone know what the correct no load and full load rpm's should be for 671ti"s. I purchased a 1976 42C last fall and it was way over propped and had huge 92-95 injectors. I ran speed /rpm curves and over the winter had the props reduced from 24 x 28 to 24 x 24 which is what the propeller folks reccomended and what the original props were.
I continued to have a lot of fuel smoke so when we found the injectors were 92-95's I had them replaced with N90's and both engines tuned. They now start faster, run very clean, sound better and run smoother . HOWEVER, they used to run 2400 no load and 2290 full load befor we did anything. Max speed was 22.9 kts which I really did not need or want. Now I run 2475 no load and only 1900
full load ??? maxspeed seems to be about 18.5 to 19 kts
and she is doing a nice 16-18 kts at 1800-1900 which I can live with as well as hopefully extend the life of the new rebuilt engines. The range of no load vs full load seems way out of line now though even though the engines are running nice and clean.Next thing to check is of course the accuracy of my tachs but I would appreciate any input on what other folks have experienced with 671ti's in a 1770's 42C .
thanks

My 1980 6-71 TI's pushing 410hp have a foil label on the oil cover which specify no load at 2650 and loaded at 2500. My actual is 2500/2475 loaded, 2650 no load. My props are 24x23.5 cupped.

Your rpm's do not seem right. I suggest you borrow a photo tach to confirm accuracy.

thanks for the data ,,yes , I agree, next step is to check the accuracy of the Aetna Tachs.
