OK, so I'm ready for the remedial lightbulb class. Could someone please tell me how to remove the protective shield and dome that covers the engine room 12v light bulbs? I can't seem to figure it out, and I don't want to apply too much force, seeing I'm not sure just what to force anyway. Thanks.

If yours is a glass and cage assembly, all it takes to remove the cage is a slight turn CCW and it will drop down. The glass unscrews. Your cage is probably frozen.

Thanks. I suspected that was the way, but I was afraid to force it, in case it wasn't the way. Do you have any idea what the typical wattage is, so I can pick up replacements ahead of time?

Mine are 50 Watt, 12 Volt. Available at most boating stores.

Sorry, I don’t know what the wattage would be for the 12V side. I use 100W bulbs on the 110V side. I’ve not replace any 12V bulbs yet.

mine have a locking screw on each side that has to be loosened befor the metal cage will turn, then the glass just unscrews ,,same on my last Hatt.
If those screws are there and you don't loosen them the cage will not turn.

Mine are the same on the 76 36c, set screw on each side then give it a half turn and unscrew the glass. I just replaced some 12volt lights with 50 watt bulbs from Wal-Mart in the camping section, about a $1.50 each.

For a great source for hard to find bulbs go to www.topbulb.com. But does anyone know the source for the 32V bayonet with medium base adapter that is used in the saloon of the 48 CPMY? The bulb is easy the adapter is a mystery.
