The rub rails on my 1966 50 Motor Yacht are shot and need replacement. This is not going to be inexpensive. I might swallow that pill easier if I felt I was getting real good advise. There is only one yard in my immediate area willing to take on the job and their recommendation is to do it using a vinyl material. that's fine by me but they say that the material can't be tapered going toward the stem as the original is. (the width decreases from aft forward)

My dock mate buddies are overflowing with advice renging from take em off and paint over, (buy a few more fenders) and one fellow knows (knew) a guy that replaced them on the same model boat with a vinyl material that he was able to shape just like the originals. Unforunately he doesn't know where this captain might be now.

I know you won't let me down and I'm counting on that. My home port is Baltimore. Thanks for any help.
