My port 6v92TA (450hp, 2050 hours) is showing a wide operating temp variance. By the bridge temp gauge, cruise (1900 rpm) is 175 degrees and hull speed (1100 rpm) is 145 degrees. By the mechanical gauge in engine room cruise is 195 degrees and hull speed is 150 degrees. Raw water cooling is clean from intake to exhaust shower head. Both engines perform equally well(no smoke or steam) with WOT at 2340rpm. Mechanic will replace thermostat and check temp sensor on engine. I have not had this boat oong, so I cannot say if this is a new or existing condition.

Any ideas?

check your pre purchase survey, the surveyor must have checked temps with a IR thermometer

Gauges, especailly electric, are not reliable. Before starting to replace parts, check the real temperature with IR thermometer, they're too cheap not to have in your tool box.

My Port temp gage was telling me that I was running hot. My IR thermometer told me that all was well.
