I';m going to need to upgrade the tender on my 53... i've using a very small roll up with 3.3hp... and I'm not sure what to get...

I've been thinking about buying a used (don't want to spend a fortune) Zodiac Projet or similar... I like the idea of not having a prop because of the kids and it's a fun little boat... on the downside I'm concerned about maintenance on the tubes and how long they will last...

otherwise, I thought I'd get a small used whaler (11 or 13' ??) since they are basically maintenance free... no leaks, etc...

how much harder is it to launch a whaler... if an inflatable turns and bumps on the side, it's no big deal but a whaler? I need to be able to handle it alone...

I launch a 13 ft whaler with a 40hp outboard from my 81 53 MY. Launching by myself is OK in calm water, but I prefer to have a helper. If you install 2 tag lines long enough to reach the water while tending them from the flybridge you can keep the whaler from bouncing down the side of your boat.

We had a 13' whaler on our 1965 50' MY when we bought it ten years ago. It was ok, but a little tough, especially against the side windows on the aft deck. We replaced it with a SeaDoo Explorer hard bottom inflatable jet. MUCH BETTER!

using a 13' rigid inflatable jet from Nautico. solves all problems! the perfect tender.

Pascal,

I have a jet drive RIB (Seadoo Explorer) which I'm asking $2K including a good jetski trailer for it. Long way from Chicago to FL but for that price how can you miss? It's 10 years old (1993) but runs great. It won't fit in the space I have on my 53MY. It's 13 ft X 6.75 ft. See July posting in Parts area.

Doug,

Is your Whaler with trailer still available?

Dave (in Milwaukee)

Dave,

Yes. I can send pictures and more descriptions if you like. It's here in St. Charles, IL since new and used rarely for the last 5 years, but always maintained, stored inside over winter and run once or twice per month. It's still a good little boat with trailer.

Pascal,

Glad you mentioned it because I sent it to you 10 days ago, so I just resent it now. I used copy/paste to get the exact e-mail address you showed above, but in reading it I think I'll try "webmaster" instead of webmater as shown. My e-mail is shumans@mindspring.com if you want to e-mail me direct.
