does anyone know original fuel capacity of 1966 41 Twin Cabin MY. i have 2 tanks in stern - brochure says 400 gallon capacity but my tanks only hold 240 gallons. engines are DD 653's. this is exact as i cleaned out tanks and installed inspection ports (to get at baffles) and refilled. wonder if there was a third tank on boat originally??

I had a 1967 41 TC with the same engines. When it was surveyed, the surveyor did not know the capacity but by the measurements, he said each tank was between 150 and 200 gallons. After cruising the boat for about 4 years, I know that they would definitely take over 300 gallons total and the two tanks in the aft cabin were the only ones onboard.

If the engines are 6v53 there are 2 tanks of 150 gallons each = 300 gallons. And if it has 8v53 the 2 tanks are 200 gallons each = 400 gallons.

The original owners manual for your specific boat is available from hatteras. Contact Jennifer Carmen @ hatteras customer service. The manual is about $75.00 and takes a few weeks for them to put together. It gives you all capacities, wiring, plumbing, etc. My 1966 tc has 300 gal fuel tanks but it originally had gas engines.
Hatteras will need your hull# which is on the portside bulkhead aft of the fwd head. Fred
