So I am in the process of rebuiling my teak wing doors. They had been painted a number of times with the hardware /lockset on them. NOw I know why. I had to use a high speed grinder with a cut off wheel and cut the handles off, then drill out the shafts and bang the pieces out. ugh!! In the process I split the teak where the mortised (don't know if that's the correct word )lockset goes in. It is of course on the side where I am keeping it brightwork. What should I glue it with? It needs to be sandable and look good under varnish also............Pat

Clear epoxy ... Try to spread it open a bit with a screw driver wedge and inject the glue. Clamp it together overnight. When you sand it, the glue becomes invisible! ws

As long as it has a little pasty consistency, it should work. If its like water, itll only seal the wood and not work as an adhesive. I spread my stuff with a screwdriver and take a smallish knife to work it in as much as possble trying to prime both sides. Clamp the heck out of it! Epoxy has no UV inhibitors so its important to get paint or varnish on it... ws
