prop strut alignment

I removed the shaft struts on my 1973 45C. Does anyone know the best way to accomplish the realignment process for the whole mess? The engines are coming out too, but are still in their last position.

Can you do something like marking cross-hairs in the shaft tubes and shooting a laser line to the transmission coupling or is it the procedure more arcane?

My advice is to hire someone to align the engines and check the struts. My stb strut was out of alighnment and it was well worth the dollars paid to get it right and back in service in a very short time.
