1973 38 aft engine removal

i've have a 1973 38' aft. i blew a head gasket on the port engine this weekend. (between cyl 6 and 7 so no oil or antifreeze issues) they are 427 fords with about 900 hours. in addition the #1 cylinder is showing only about 80 on the compression test which i'm guessing is a bad/broken ring because i just did the valves this past winter. (all others are 160 - 180) has anyone removed an engine intact from an aft and if so what where your methods. any help would be appreciated.
