So, when are you going to apply your talents to building that cross-country twin, or a Pitts Special?

    Re: Boat Building 101

As soon as I get settled down with my career and the like.

There is no experimental twin out there that I know of. I was thinking about this the other day.

edit: this guy is spending his time doing something more useful http://www.maddyhome.com/canardpages...ProjStatus.htm

Do it while you've still got disposable income and free time. (This means before you're married )

No twins? Sounds like a ripe market for a young engineer.

Here's a guy who proves what Brian was saying: http://warbuddies.homestead.com/jimsIndex.html

There was a guy that had a building on our block that made a living putting together some sort of performance kit plane. He has moved out but it was called Bowes Aviation

I don't know if people want Twins. This is shown by the fact that one can buy a cessna 310 for cheaper than a 210 and often even a 182!

I'm thinking decathlon or something of the sort to get me in the air (if I can't join a club or the like) and then figure out what to build/buy. The COZY looks pretty nice, but I think a Glasair III may be pretty sweet. I think something Aerobactic is required.

Then one needs a taildragger STOL that can be fitted with floats....and maybe even a full amphib for long trips...and then a backpack parachute to take on the boat....and and...lolz

    Re: Boat Building 101

That boat builder website, and the guy himself, are amazing. What a JOB! It certainly looks like good work and strong, but I hope he gets everything right becaue the forces invloved when he hits a few hours of 5 to 7 footers are incredible. He has big beefy WOOD engine stringers.... and they're glued to the botom wood frame. Those will have major forces working on them when running too, and oil and water from bilges likely. Well, it looks like he knows what he's doing anyhow. My hat's off to him, but my HATT's my choice on the water.

Very interesting build. The things that concern me are the fiberglass over wood rudders and fuel tanks. Guy definately has talent.

    Gosh, doesn't the Cri-cri count?

    Even the jet version:

Also, I've enjoyed this vid before, but it's still funny (all the way at the end):

    I stumbled across this: http://www.aerovisions.com/skyshark1.html

Looks like a smaller version of the Piaggio Avanti P180, which is a badass plane btw (~400knots @41k TURBOPROP!)
