They've cancelled the Thunderbirds at the Jones Beach Airshow too. It's all part of how they punish the public for not supporting the socialist state.

I work with the .gov all the time and trust me, they could cut expenditures in half and only the employees would notice. They don't gore their own ox though, because that would be admitting that they're nowheres near as underfunded and understaffed as they're always whining.

It's a shame but it's what we get when or representatives don't do their jobs. Problem is they look for broad cuts that will make an impact on paper. What needs to be done is every gov, agency and program needs to be made more efficient. The waste is huge and I'm sure we could keep the same level of service if we just trimmed some of the fat. Our government is like a 600lb man. Even if we cut it in half, we'd still be too fat.

Unfortunately it's not "a cut in spending". It's a "reduction of the increase", so they'll still spend more. The way these SOB's are canceling air shows, I want to know how much money they "saved"! And if I have to live without an air show to get govt to be responsible- well, it's well worth it.

Exactly! They are not cutting any spending, they are only reducing the rate of increase...

The goal of the administration is to make the reduction as obvious as possible so they are cutting visible services and programs. But rest assured that food stamps, free phones etc will continue to grow since they are vote purchases.

The sequester should have cut the salaries of our paid officials - it's their fault that we're in the state that we're in - the legislature IS NOT doing their job!
