    oil change question

I have always heated an engine up before changing oil, is there any real reason to do this? would seem better to do it cold since all old oil would have drained to the pan.

    Re: oil change question

For me, it's a matter of heating the oil to make it thin enough to pump out. Cold, thick oil is hard to pump.

try pumping thick cold oil ! even down here, warming up the engine makes it much easier...

    Ang,( as always) is correct.

Hot/warm oil will drain a lot easier than cold oil....

You will get more oil out if it's warm/hot out than cool/cold

Plus your pump will be a lot happier with you.

also gets the oil mixed so you get all the old gunk with the pump out.
