The standard Hatteras 100 amp ANL is mounted inside the fuse panel where the label reads windlass. In addition to that, there is a 70 amp breaker between the windlass and the control box. My guess is that whoever installed the windlass wanted to make sure that he did not burn up the control box if the windlass jammed so he put a breaker there. The Hatteras fuse is to protect the line form the batteries to the control box in case there was a sort there. At least, that is my guess.

The standard tach drive, no. Keep grease in it though.
When they get sloppy the worm gear will seize up and break the stub shaft. If that happens, the obvious thing is to replace the stub shaft ($20) Bad answer - the problem is the sloppy internals; it'll break again.
That Glendinning has reasonably-priced replacements is cool. I had one that needed replacement and almost shat when they told me how much for the "official" DD part.http://www.denninger.net - Home page with blog links and more
