I just received a quote from DD of just under $300 per tranny for the parts and filters (no labor) to convert my Allison MH 20's to spin ons. Does this sound about right. I am tired of trying to get those awful cannisters not to leak.

Re: Allison Spin Ons
$300?! I paid $130, I think, for the adapters! I believe I got 'em from Arcadia in LA.

Karl - I think the local DD guys are trying to bleed me for having successfully collected from them for the 18 Reliabuilt injectors that they sold me that had to be scrapped and replaced.

Re: Allison Spin Ons
I'll have to look at my old invoice, but I bought them from DD a couple of years ago and I think they were around $80 each for the adapters. Get the part number and call another DD dealer and see how much they are. If you need the part number, I can look it up.

Re: Allison Spin Ons
Thanks anyway. It's pretty much a done deal but it sure sounded steep to me.

Allison Spin Ons
I continue to use the old style Allison filters and have not had any problem with them leaking. Don't they have a washer on the underside of the filter top....which the cannister fits against .....have you replaced that when you change filters?

Re: Allison Spin Ons
The problem with the cannisters is that they seem to get cocked unless installed perfectly each time. DD just reduced the price of the parts saying that they were mistaken --to the tune of 50%. Funny how that happens and the mistake is always in their favor. Much to my disappointment, the adapters are not prefect swaps and the bolt holes need to be drilled and tapped because they are a different pattern. Not a big deal but a pain.

Re: Allison Spin Ons
Huh? My adapters just had a center bolt that fit the old center cannister bolt hole. Are you sure they gave you the right adapters? What is the part #?

Re: Allison Spin Ons
Someone screwed up.
The adapters I got from Arcadia had a BIG stud that was screwed into the filter housing that held the adapter in place. ONE (big) bolt.
Make sure you have the right parts - you should not have to drill and tap anything. Call Arcadia.http://www.denninger.net - Home page with blog links and more
