The Hatteras 1510 club held the annual Rendezvous this past weekend in Portsmouth,Va. A total of 10 boats attended and about as many drive in/fly in members attended as well. After dealing with some rough water and some rain, the weekend weather was great. For those of you that are either not members of the club or are members but have never chosen to attend a rendezvous, you are missing a great event. Friday and Saturday the boats that attended were open for inspection. Its a great chance to exchange stories and get great ideas for your next project. Its amazing how similar and yet how different these boats are. But in the end, we all have the same problems, maintenance issues and the like. There were 53' Classics, 53' and 58' Yachtfish and two Extended Decks. Next year the 2007 rendezvous will be back in Portsmouth and 2008 will be in Baltimore. Keep in mind you do not have to own a 1510 to be a member of the club. The club accepts associate members for those of you that just love these old boats but don't own one or perhaps havent found that perfect one yet. So keep it in mind for next year and try to attend. Hatteras owners are a great bunch.
