    Florida/Georgia Winter Storage

Moving the boat to MD for the summer but need a winter home for the boat. Plan to keep her in the water and don't want to worry about a hard freeze. We'd like to be close to a bigger airport so we can have ease of travel for chores and a weekend get away. Plan to do some travel south over the winter but not interested in keeping her too far south. Currently looking at Jacksonville. Called Lambs as a start. Any suggestions?

Lambs offers big covered slips at the original docks.
New wood docks should be available by now and their east floating dock.
During construction, the new wood dock area was dredged a little.

Next door, Huckins may offer a dock but you will need monthly boat washings.
Also boat washings on the Lambs east floating dock.
The Huckins yard and coal trains keep the dust up.

Sadler Point marina is to small.
Ortega river marine/club is doable but rickety floating docks.
Now called Marker 32 (this week), they have nice floating docks.

2 to 3' tides in the Ortega river.

Have you considered Jax Beach Marine?

In Fernandina Beach, Oyster Bay was nice.

    Brunswick Landing is nice also.

Where ever you tie, You will need a diver to keep an eye on your bottom.
You will need Ollie Price. Ollie & Shawn are the ONLY kids to get near your boat bottom.

We kept our east coast boat at Brunswick Landing, which was great, walk to town but The Jacksonville airport is an hours drive. There are a few flights out of Brunswick but never took them as we were flying to the west coast and needed a bigger airport. Also Savana area has a few nice marinas around Thunderbolt.

Thank you for the help. Brunswick looks like a great spot, well run and very well liked marina. Put a call into all the above suggestions.

We looked at St Johns Yacht Harbor near Charleston SC. Pretty nice! They are investing a ton into it. One draw back is if you take the short route to the ocean you risk the constant shoaling. The back way through town takes a lot longer but is far safer. The photos on their web site dont show the huge slip expansion

Do you go back and forth from LM to the east coast?

If you’re just looking for storage check Atlantic in Great Bridge VA. They have covered storage on the south side of the lock in fresh water. Rarely get a hard freeze. I left mine there several winters when I couldn’t make it to Florida.
