    sad news

Tom Slane, son of Willis Slane, one of the founders of Hatteras Yachts, passed away on Wednesday, April 10th, 2024, after a long illness.

From his shop, Slane Marine, in High Point, NC, Tom directed the refits and improvements of many boats, most of them vintage Hatteras yachts. These refits included the design and manufacture of custom parts for Hatteras craft, all done to a very high standard. Tom was very well versed in the history of the company, having grown up with it, and had a considerable fund of stories about the players in the company and in the boating world. .

Memorial arrangements are pending at this time.
