Anyone know what the purpose of these 6' long cabinets might be?

There are 2 of these near the aft door. 6' long, 3' high, about 4" wide. Has a latching door on each. I don't really want them but don't want to get rid of something that has a specific purpose. Any ideas of why these are on my boat?IMG_6278.jpg

fishing rod storage is the only thing I can think of, and there are much better solutions out there. Are there racks inside? If not, maybe someone made them for something that is no longer even on the boat. I'd say you're safe in removing them... Out of the 2 years we owned Pau Hana I removed easily 500lbs of stuff that no longer served any purpose but was still onboard. At least 100lbs of that was wiring in the upper and lower helms that was cut at both ends but left in place after whatever it was serving was removed/upgraded/replaced.

Yes. I have them out whenever I travel. The GPS chartplotter is the "backup".
