fuel switching

I am trying to sort out the proper way to switch the tanks. I see there is a primer switch for each engine. Do I switch and prime? Do the engine have to be ruining or off? It is a 52' cpmy with Caterpillar 3406e. Thanks for any assistance.

You should be able to Switch tanks with the engines running or not. Personally I avoid to switch right before close quarter maneuvering just in case. You should not have to use priming pumps unless there is an air leak somewhere

And make sure you switch the returns as well
