I am having trouble keeping the sea strainer for AC intake as well as the generator intake clear of weeds. Late season in Michigan we have a huge problem with floating duck weed. Anyone found any clever solutions?

Re: Weed problem
Where are you, Saugatuck? Move the boat north to clean water.
Seriously, I have no ideas except to just clean the strainers.Sky Cheney

Re: Weed problem
Get off the dock. Less weeds accumulate while the hull is in motion.

Re: Weed problem
Don’t have weed problems on this side of the lake but definitely a fish problem! This little guy made 8.7 hours from Racine to Manitowoc. Then was released to sleep with the fishes again.

Re: Weed problem
Had the same problem living aboard in downtown New Bern NC on the Trent River. Had to clean out the strainers for the AC daily! Once I went to clean it out and it was empty. An eel had made its way past the strainer and stuck in the impeller. I used it to catch a Striper on the first cast! (See insert in photo!

Re: Weed problem
Install screens outside the thru hull. Aka South Bay strainers. Everything stays outside the boat.
I ve put them on my boat during the repower, for the mains and the AC. Work great. The gen had a round shower head style thru hull so I didn’t change that onePascal
