Hi, I am looking to buy AGM staring battery for my 9.8Hp Tohatsu 4 Stroke outboard. I do not want to go 'oversized' because of weight and price, so what sort of capacity should I be looking at? The engine starts easily when cold by pulling the cord, but it has the starter wired (now) so I'd like to have the easy option added to it.

If you look up the starter, the spec shows .4KW
At 12v, I think that's about 33amps.
I think I'd go with a PWC battery that weighs around 12lbsSky Cheney

Re: Starting battery capacity for 9.8HP Tohatsu 4 Stroke outboard
Thanks, the main reason why I want AGM is because I tilt my inflatable by 90 degrees when stowed on davits and I want the battery that can be installed and safely tilted by 90 degrees. Led acid even sealed does not support this installation.
I found a PWC AGM battery for $100 ($130 CAD) at Canadian Tire shop. If there is any other type that can support this installation orientation I would love to hear about them.M/V BONAZZA
