I am in the process of enclosing the aft deck so it can be air conditioned.
It will only be used while at the dock.
The current AC inlet powers 2 self contained (16K ,9K) units.
Pedestal setup is 50 splitter into 2 30amp and it has an unused 30 amp socket.
Can I just run a separate 30amp cord from it to the boat to power the additional AC ?

This is why I changed over to 50a to power everything. Your solution should work as long as whatever dock you happen upon has 3 - 30a power sources available. Or you can choose not to power the 3rd cord.

The 30 is often one of the sides of of the 240 volt 50
Why not upgrade the boat to 50 and have enough power with a standard cord setupScott

I have no idea what the last poster is saying. I don't think he does either.

Re: Adding 3rd 30 amp service
and you have to rely on the (usually) crappier quality of the 30 amp plug ends, much better to bring 50 a 240v onboard and split it inside. I saw too many 30 amp plugs cause fires when we lived aboard........Pat
