    Soliciting opinions as to preferred brand(s) of transmission fluid to use in an Allison (behind a 8v71T).

    I assume it's an Allison M20 - it doesn't use "Transmission" fluid, at least in this application. Use the same oil you use in your 8V71s. Should be straight 40Wt meeting CF2 Spec.

    If you want a specific brand, I use Exxon XD-40 in mains, trans, and genny.

    Straight 40 in the gears - same as in the engines.

    DO NOT run multigrade in the gears.
