    Bottom Time Again

It's that time. Aslan needs a new bottom. Last job was June of 2015 using:

--2 coats of Interlux Micron CSC-Blk
--1 coat (waterline) of Interlux Ultra w/Biocide-Blk

Aslan in is a high flow tidal area (Stono River, Charleston, SC); ebb tide can exceed 2 knots. The water temp has reached 84 degrees--some of the gulls have started hiring divers.

So, for folks in similar conditions...

    1. What are your recommendations for an ablative paint?
    2. What are your recommendations for the running gear?

    Thanks for your input!

Did you feel the paint last time worked well?

I use micron 66 but it's not good in freshwater. Brackish depends.

I'm trying a micropolymer for the props on some boats this month.

PM me and I can get you details.

    Re: Bottom Time Again

I tried and am happy with bluewater. Half the price of CSC. I made a thread about it, but look at post #14 for contact info for the salesman that gives the discount and free shipping.

    Re: Bottom Time Again

Was just looking into that. I was last hauled in San Diego but used KKMI here.

The (new) Svendson's Bay Marine is just around the corner from me but my discount buddy is gone, so may make the trip to Napa Valley Marina and perform much of the labor at my leisure.

How about you? Any recommendations for those of us in the area?

I use this, and am in the same waters.

I use prop speed also. For me, the condition of the metal has always been the weak link in waters ga to nc. Pricey, but seems to extend need for a bottom job one more season. Diver says he does not need to scrape my metals. Not sure I get the value I should, but it does help.

Thanks, very informative. Where is your boat located? Seems like you've used Bluewater for about a year. Are you pleased?
