What's the minimum compression figure for a 1978, 17:1 CR, 550 HP, twin turbo 8V92?
Thanks.

Follow up:
Obtained a 1978 Detroit Diesel Field Service Data Book which stated the minimum compression for this engine is 450 psi.

Re: Min. Compression for 8V92
According to the shop manual, minimum compression on a turbo 92 series is 380. Average is 430. Readings are taken at idle, 600 rpm.
Seems like most surveyors will call out anything below 400, or if there are big variances among cylinders.George

Re: Min. Compression for 8V92
Thanks for the reply, George.
I've seen a 1978 and a 1979 DD Service Manual, and they both list this this engine as a 380/430 engine, but that page is dated 1973. The page in the DD Data Book that list it as a 450/500 engine is dated 1978, so I thought/assumed that would be the correct figure.
The compression range on the engine I was looking at ranged from 410 to 480.
