Cleaning of Afrormosia cabinet and paneling

Found great suggestions on the forum for refinishing teak (afrormosia) paneling and cabinetry but not much commentary on cleaning the surfaces prior to applying oil or other finishes. Would appreciate some input on what chemicals and/or abrasive materials (bronze wool, 3M scrubbers, etc.) to use or avoid, etc.

For cleaning off residue after removal of old finish, bleach for uniformity if required...oxalic acid, maybe still available at TRUE VALUE hardware, or even diluted household bleach...even the surface via light sanding with perhaps 220 sandpaper and then finer to your satisfaction, maybe 400 grit. You can use a machine if you have a lot to do, but do not press hard and finish up with finer roughness by hand to remove possible machione swirls.

Vacuum the surface and surrounding area to remove heavy dust. Follow by wiping with rags dampened with any solvent like acetone, adhesive remover or even turps (dries more slowly).....wipe surfaces lightly with a tack rag (available from Home Depot or paint stores)...Best to clean the entire cabin of all dust prior to application of new finish....otherwise dust adversly affects new finish application...

I have just sanded lightly with 320 then applied Watco teak oil. Turns out great and looks like the OEM finish.
