Has anyone replaced them ? I changed impellers the other day on my new to me Bertram and one of the inserts is pretty beat up!!! They appear to be in there very tight!

The cam is held in with a screw through the pump body. Depending on the engine configuration, you might be able to get to the screw with the pumps in place. If not, the pumps are fairly easy to pull and replace. The cams are available from Detroit Diesel. Save the best of the four for a spare.

You said they are plastic? I’ve only seen the cams in bronze. If yours are plastic, maybe you can retrofit bronze?

All four are plastic in my 16-92s. I have a Depco rebuilt pump as a spare and it has a plastic cam as well. They last a long time.
