I have taken all of the hardware off a freshwater boat. Boatis painted and now I need to reinstall. I have used 3M 4000UV in the past. What do you guys suggest using?

Re: Bedding compound
Don't use 3m 4000uv. I used it 1.5 years ago on my deck and it's very chalky. Just touching it leaves my hand covered in white crap. Ironically the 5200 hasn't done the same.
My vote is butyl http://www.pbase.com/mainecruising/butyl_tapeFTFD... i drive a slow 1968 41c381

Re: Bedding compound
Consider the Sikaflex-295 (it's recommended by Sam's)
I have just started using the Sikaflex-295 and find it really good and remains soft. Just check the "use by" date code on the tube/cartridge when you buy it. It is a little sensitive to shelf life. Sikaflex is available in black or white. I just finished replacing a lot of the glass windows in my 53 MY and used Sikaflex to bead them in around the butyl tape. I can't take all the credit for switching over to this product it was recommended to me by the folks at Sam's. If Sam's recommends it must make it Hatteras approved....Tim

Re: Bedding compound
I like the Sikaflex products compared to the 3M stuff for the most part.
Sika 295 would be my first choice, 3M 4200 would also be okay.CRICKET
