Reminds me of a Cummins in a Dodge truck I owned. If you let it warm up in winter for 10 minutes at idle and then took off, you'd be the envy of every destroyer captain tasked with laying down a smoke screen--dense and black as coal.

It always checked out normal per dealer service dept.

Had a 24 valve 5.9 and now a 6.7 cummins and neither one smoked. I use a fuel additive a d have a hard time rolling coal. But neither one ever ran in less than. 35 degrees when I owned them.

Well, back to the drawing board... none of the boats we looked at was the right one. Did narrow it down to a convertible 52-58’. So it wasn’t a wasted trip!

    Thast a huge range.

The 52C is nothing like the 53c or the 55C or the 58C.

Yeah, We will continue to narrow down more. We had completely different ideas on what we wanted when we started so I guess we are learning the process.

    Is draft an issue?

The 52 is about 5 foot.

The 53 is closer to 4 foot

The 55 I believe is even deeper draft than the 52 and I'm not sure about the 58. I know a 52 will not make it down my canal but a 53 can.

Where we will be keeping it, draft will not be an issue. We also looked at a Viking 57 this weekend which had the deepest draft of what we have looked at so far. This is what made us think about going up to as long as 58. I hope we can find something in the 52-55 range that will check most of our “must have” boxes but we’ll stay open until we narrow down more.

Don't try to buy the biggest boat you can find in your price range. Focus on the smallest boat which will meet your needs.

    You can thank me later.
