    Line rode belongs on a dinghy. Period.

    On a real boat, i like either all chain or enough chain for the tyoical water depth plus extra line if needed. This has worked for me on everything, even the little 26' classic gaffer i built. Since we typically anchor in 8 to 10', i have 50' of chain... never had to use the remaining 200' line evrn when med mooring to a cncrete bulkhead under sail.

    Agreed. Why bother to have the ability to anchor if you avoid doing so due to a line rode problem.
