Mine fits good on pulpit with roll bar hitting bottom of pulpit as it tightens up.

The roll bar did come up against pulpit first and I figured theres a fair bit of force involved. I made a stainless stop bar that fits to the anchor and connects with the anchor roller support. May have a photo. Hatteras pulpit.

There is a photo in 'my gallery' showing the anchor stowed but I can't retrieve it on this android device. Maybe you can view it there but the roll bar pulpit conflict is worth considering. Rocna vulcan was designed to avoid this issue.

Well folks, I finally had a chance to anchor out today and try out my new anchor line. I am not a happy camper. I broke down and ordered the Lewmar 8 plait anchor line specifically recommended by Lewmar for my Lewmar windlass including about 15 feet of chain already rigged on the Lewmar setup. Don't you know that the darn line one quarter of the way through retrieval does not want to do inside the arm thing (sorry, forgot the name) unless I go to the bow, open the anchor locker, and pull down from inside the locker. And, the darn Lewmar line certainly wasn't cheap, to boot. Any ideas as this was the first retrieval wth the line and it didn't go well.

If this flops again and I need to add chain, will those gadgets that connect chain links get through my windlass? If so, I may opt to just add 100' of chain and attach it to the existing 15' and 200 feet of line. I usually fish at anchor in 30' of water and never deeper than 40'.

I think the right answer is “probably”, but that link will be much lower strength than your chain; just ditch the existing 15’. If you’re going to add 115’ of new chain, why not add 200’ (a little more money, but not much more trouble), and eliminate fooling with the rope at the windlass 90% of the time? [if 100’ does that for you, never mind - don’t know what scope you typically employ]. Also a good time to look at your terminal accessories and be sure you’re happy with them. When I upgraded my chain, I switched from 2, 1/4” stainless D shackles and a galvanized swivel (890# WLL) to back-to-back 3/8” forged alloy shackles (4000# WLL) for 10 bucks.

Thanks. Still hoping that my existing setup works but if not, chain it is. To be candid, since this is an Ocean and not a Hatteras, I'm a little uncomfortable adding too much weight to this anchor locker perched so high in the bow. That is why I avoided the all chain setup to begin with. But, perhaps the extra 100 pounds of chain ( from 100-200) won't make a difference. I just kick myself in the butt for thinking the expensive 8 plait Lewmar setup was worth it. Also, I am getting a little old to be schlepping around 200' of chain at 200 pounds. Getting close to 2/3 of my old college football bench press many moons ago.

Pull the line and soak it in a big tub with dawn dishwashing liquid and Viagra.

That should stiffen it up.

One of the redeeming characteristics of 200’ of chain is that you can move it 20 ft at a time :-))

Said the heck with it and was able to get a 100% refund including shipping on the Lewmar rode at @$500. So, all chain rode has been ordered. In the end, since I am often alone on the boat, I was not comfortable with pulling on the anchor line from within the anchor locker on the bow and using the foot pedals while my fingers were so close to the windlass. I remember when I was a kid having to cut a line to get my father's fingers out of the windlass. If he had been alone, I have no idea what he would have done. It's not too often that safety and convenience coincide but an all chain rode should do the trick.
