    Engine room air box vents

    I was talking to a friend who has a 1978 53’ that has finns on the exterior of his air box’s. Mine is a 1980 and does not have them or have signs of them ever being there. My question is are they standard in all 53’ models or was it stopped in 1979? Thanks in advance

    Rusty my ‘74 had them but I just removed them and faired the box before we painted. I got some material from Sam’s that they use in the air vents that allows air flow but keeps spray out. So far it is working great and the boat looks a lot better without those louvers. At least that’s my opinion. John
