I believer your referring to the chart locker.

Correct on chart locker. I use mine for the had rails on my boarding ladder. I’ve heard some have installed a vacuum system in there.

On my 56, a PO had set it up for guns and had a lock on the lid. I kept miscellaneous stuff in there.

    Re: compartment by steps

In our galley remodel we took out the dinette and put a cabinet where the aft dinette seat was and accessed that area to make the cabinet huge. Also I put a shelf in at the height of a wine bottle with a lift off top for a large liquor locker. There is enough space in there that I actually could get inside to install cleats for the shelf. The way Hatt had it set up there was a lot of wasted space. John

Wine 🍷🍾 sounds good but were do the charts go.

I'd probably put mine with the guns. 🤠

Charts go on the computer or plotter, where else.

Any boater without paper charts should be held at the dock.

I sell and install the electronics BUT I always insist on paper backups.

That locker is great if you like to roll your charts. I do not. I fold mine and keep them in the chart drawers under the pilot house seat.
