    Kerosene outboard?

So I’m still trying to figure out what I’m going to do about a new dink, one engine option is to purchase a new 2 stroke in the Bahamas. While searching I ran across this line made by Yamaha for third world applications. I’m not considering it just though is was cool.

I think the military uses outboards that run on jet fuel too. At one point when non-PC people ran it they had a practical idea where all the equipment burned the same fuel. Excellent for logistics. Today the enviro-weenie mentality has corrupted the military too, and now they consider the environmental impact of what delivers the ordinance.

Just read an article in the new Passagemaker magazine on Yamaha’s new 50 hp Diesel outboard, should be just the right size for you. John

How many sizes do they make of diesel outboards? This is intriguing.

    Yanmar has a 50 hp but it's 175 Kg.

    Ouch. Seems heavy.

Sucks the attachment isn’t clear, I just don’t have the patience to figure it out. These motors are two stroke, they start on gasoline then switch to kerosene per design. Of course kerosene combustion is far less than optimal so the engine emits ‘copious’ (as described ) amounts smoke, but it runs. Again, I have no interest in buying one but impressed Yamaha brought this concept to market.
